Luke was another
hitchhiker in the same gas station. We asked him where did he go(if somebody is
going in the same direction as you are and he or she was first in the gas
station or another hitch-spot it’s educate to wait until he/she will get a
lift, then you can start to hitch-hike). Luke was going almost the same
direction as we were going. We started to talk, did some picnic and we had
really nice conversation. The interesting thing is that Luke was in the travel
for 10 months: he was coming back by hitch-hiking from…Papua New Guinea. In 2012 Luke graduated from
university in Edynburg, he finished geography. Then he went to work to earnn
some money for his travel. Next he bought ticket to Papua New Guinea and from
there he started to hitchhike, coming back to Scotland;) The most surprised
thing in his journey was that people in China gave him money or some clothes,
not only rich guys. What’s more chineese policeman gave him a lift for 1000
kilometers. I mencioned about Luke in this blog because all of his stories are
amazing examples that you never know when or where you will find a help or such
interesting person as Luke. It’s also an evidence that hitch-hiking really
works.
Hitch-hiking from Papua New Guinea to Edinburgh must be quite a challenge. Do you know how long his Scottish guy travelled altogether? It must have been months.
