1. After hiking on Malinche , which was
amazing we moved to Oaxaca City, amazing city in the colourful state with the
same name. It was also our first experience with hitchhiking in Mexico, which
seemed to be extremely easy...We stopped one of these huge trucks, which you know
from American movies. Always wanted to do so ;). Generally, hitchhiking in
Mexico is a exceptional thing to describe, but it works pretty well, but also
looks a bit differently than in Europe.
You ride quite often with a trucks drivers, which are – also quite often –
drunk, so it could be dangerous...If you see them drunk its better to leave the
car. But whats the best, and also very common its riding on the truck of the
pick up cars...In some parts of the country pick ups are the most popular cars,
not only in Mexico, also in Nicaragua, Salvador or Guatemala. People very often
let you to ride in a truck. You don’t have any contact with them unfortunately
but its save for you and them, and this is the reason why its so popular there,
in places which are belevied to be dangerous...So you cant talk with a driver,
but you have panoramic view for everything which sourrounds you which is
incredible, especially in Oaxacan mountains. Anyway, we spent 4 days in our
couchsurfing hosts in Oaxaca City exploring crowding city, local arts and food.
Interesting food which is popular there is mole poblano, which is poltry meat
with mole – some kind of souse made amon the thers, from chocolate, chilli and
a lot of spices. Delicious dish!
